ISSS Awards
ISSS has instituted special awards to contributions from full time regular students in India. There are separate categories for undergraduate (BSc, BE, BTech, etc) postgraduate (MSc, MS, ME, MTech, MPhil, etc) and research (PhD) students. To qualify for these awards, the student(s) should have completed the reported work during the respective academic programs. In the case of UG award, an individual or a team of up to four members can submit their contributions. Submissions are limited to 4 pages and should highlight the thesis /research /project work reported. Supervisor /guide of the student(s) is required to give an undertaking that the work was carried out during the respective academic course program for which the submission is considered. Students of integrated degree programs may be considered for the award category based on their year of enrolment. Please note that one person will be considered only once for one category of award.
ISSS UG AWARDS: Prize INR 15,000
Eligibility: BSc, BE, B.Tech, etc. Submissions may be a short report (limited to 4 pages) based on final year projects or other forms of research done during the course of engineering study. Individual or a team may submit their work for the UG Award.
ISSS PG AWARD: Prize INR 20,000
Submissions in the form of a short report (limited to 4 pages) based on a research or a project during MSc, ME, MTech, MS, or MPhil.
ISSS PhD AWARD: Prize INR 25,000
Submissions may be a synopsis of the research towards the PhD degree and may contain a list of all publications and /or patents during the course of research.
Submissions for these awards should be sent directly to awards@isssonline.in on or before April 30, 2017. The winners of all categories will be intimated by May 31, 2017, and are required to present the work and receive the award at a special session organized the ISSS International Conference at Bengaluru. The Academic supervisor(s) of award winning students will be given a Commendation Certificate.

Outstanding researchers in the area of micro and smart systems will be selected based on their work done in India for the ISSS Young Scientist Award. This award is for someone who has carried out extensive research beyond their academic programs, on a topic relevant to this area. The maximum age limit for the nominee is 40 years as of April 30, 2017. Nominations for this award in the prescribed format may be sent to awards@isssonline.in by April 30, 2017 and may be made by self, head of organization or ISSS members.
Nomination should include the list of publications and a short description of the nominee's contributions during the career, but the efforts during the last five years must be highlighted. Nomination by "self" should be supported by reference letters by two experts familiar with the nominee’s work. Nominations by an ISSS member or the Head of Institution should be seconded by another ISSS member or a subject expert such as thesis supervisor or a senior member of faculty. Nominations will be valid for up to three years. The winner will be intimated by May 31, 2017, and is required to present a brief overview of the recent work and receive the award at a special session organized during the ISSS International Conference at Bengaluru.
ISSS Young Scientist Award: Carries a Citation, ISSS Medal and a Cash Prize of INR 50,000.
Selection is based on nominations. List of publications and two support letters are necessary. Required to accept the award in person at the National Conference.

ISSS has initiated a Technology Award in 2015 to promote technology development, innovation and entrepreneurship in India in the area of micro and smart systems. This award is intended to recognize contributions made by (i) an entrepreneur who has set up, or is at an advanced stage of setting up start-ups pertinent to the general area devices or systems using micro and nano technologies and applications or (ii) someone who have championed the cause of commercialization with appropriate technology innovation, leading to a product or application.
The award will carry a special citation and a cash prize of INR 50,000. The maximum age limit for the nominee (individual or a team of individuals) is 50 years as of April 30, 2017. Please note that the nominee is expected to have demonstrated maturity towards commercialization of the product or has made sustained progress towards commercialization during the recent years. Documentary proofs for claims may be included with the nomination form. Nominations for this award in the prescribed format may be sent to awards@isssonline.in by April 30, 2017 and may be made by self, head of organization or ISSS members.

Nomination by an ISSS member or the Head of Institution should be seconded by another ISSS member or a subject expert. Nominations will be valid for up to three years. ISSS Technology Award: Carries a special citation and a cash prize of INR 50,000.
Nominations must be in the prescribed form and must contain a brief description of the technology, the market scenario, an account of the progress made by the nominee (limited to the last five years) and the impact of this technology. Required to accept the award in person at the National Conference.

Decision of the awards committees appointed by the governing council of ISSS will be final in all respects. The committee may not offer an award if it does not find a suitable candidate in a given category. A second prize for up to one of the student award categories may be included in a given year.
Awards will be presented at the Seventh ISSS International Conference to be held at Indian Institute of Science,
Bengaluru during July 4-7, 2017.
